About the Author

Yehuda Meitav was born in Israel on April 25, 1964, into a large, humble family in a struggling neighborhood. As a boy, he was moved to Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, where life by the fields and the sea awakened his imagination and the quiet voice within him that longed to tell stories.

In 1987, Yehuda began a new chapter in Australia, where he built his life with love, resilience, and opportunity. It is from the meeting place of these two worlds—Israel and Australia, memory and imagination—that his stories are born.

Every tale Yehuda writes springs from lived experience, often from pain transformed into hope. He believes that our deepest wounds can become the strongest light we offer others—especially to children who feel lost, broken, or alone.

Through his books, Yehuda weaves together the threads of nature, memory, and healing. His stories are written not only to inspire and entertain but also to guide, to strengthen, and to give back—to the world that shaped him, and to every reader who may need a gentle voice in the dark.

Up and Coming Book;                  "If a Tree Falls"
       by Yehuda Meitav

In his second book, Yehuda Meitav weaves together the threads of novel and memoir to create a powerful journey of self-discovery, history, and spirit. If a Tree Falls follows a young man born in Israel, shaped by war, who sets out across India, Australia, Europe, and back to his homeland in search of a place of peace. Along the way, he carries with him a question first posed by his grandfather: If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

It is a question without a single answer—scientific, spiritual, or religious—yet one that becomes the compass of his life. In each encounter, each landscape, he seeks to understand not just the sound of the tree, but the meaning of human existence, memory, and survival.

In If a Tree Falls, Meitav extends the question beyond the forest, applying it to humanity itself: If a person lives a full life but reaches the end with no one left to bear witness to their story, did they truly live—or was it all a dream? Through this lens, the book explores the vital role of relationships, love, and memory. It is in those who walk beside us, who remember us, and who echo our existence back to us, that we find proof we lived and that our fall was heard.

Threaded with history and imbued with magic, this deeply emotional novel explores how wars shape us, how silence speaks, and how the answers we find are both universal and profoundly personal. At its heart, If a Tree Falls is a cycle of return—of a grandson bringing his answer back to his grandfather’s grave, and of a man bringing meaning back to the world.

A story of beauty, resilience, and truth, Yehuda Meitav’s If a Tree Falls is an unforgettable meditation on life, loss, and the search for peace.
